Dr. Bowers raised $49,400 for American Cancer Society
while dancing the Tango to her favorite song in 2014 Dancing With Our Stars.

Giving Back

Since 2012, Dr. Bowers has teamed up with Kentucky Senator Rand Paul, an ophthalmologist, numerous times to perform "pro bono" eye surgeries on patients who need the surgery but are uninsured and were not eligible for government assistance. Dr. Bowers finds the patients who are in need of cataract surgery, performs the pre-operative evaluations and testing. She performs the surgery on one eye and Dr. Paul performs the surgery on the second eye. Dr. Bowers then provides all the post-operative care for both eyes. This is all done "pro bono". In most of these cases the patients were legally blind or worse and would otherwise never have been able to benefit from surgery.

The American Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgery established a similar program in 2014. "It is such an exciting thing to be able to restore vision to the blind members of our community who would have otherwise remained blind. The American Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgery established a similar charitable program in 2014. I hope in some way that Dr. Paul's and my efforts to treat blindness across America will encourage other doctors to do the same in their communities".

In addition to performing "pro bono" surgeries, INNOVATIVE OPHTHALMOLOGY proudly supports the following community organizations:
